Understanding Your Solar Plexus Chakra

Our last Understanding Your Chakras class, we learned about the Mani Pura (Solar Plexus) Chakra!

Take a look at some of the things we went over below:

  • Purpose: Power / Self-worth / Self-confidence
  • Location: Slightly above the navel
  • Color: Yellow
  • Sound: E / Ahm
  • Element: Fire
  • Archangel: Raphael
  • Glands: Endocrine, Metabolic/Digestion
  • Virtue: Patience, grace, and wisdom
  • Vice: Wrath
  • Meaning of the 10 petals: Spirituality, ignorance, thirst, jealousy, treachery, shame, fear, disgust, delusion, foolishness and sadness.

We also learned about what happens in and outside of the body when the Mani Pura chakra is balancedunbalanccedunderactive, and overactive.

When the solar plexus chakra is balanced you may feel:

  • Responsible and reliable
  • Healthy self-esteem
  • Spontaniety
  • Playfulness
  • Sense of humor
  • Able to make decisions and meet challenges
  • Warmth in personality

When the solar plexus chakra is unbalanced you may feel:

  • Low self-esteem
  • Lack of self-trust
  • Weak will
  • Poor digestion
  • Victim mentality
  • Unable to take responsibility
  • Attraction to stimulants
  • Not feeling good enough

When the solar plexus chakra is underactive you may feel:

  • Eating, intestinal, or digestive disorders
  • Hypoglycemia
  • Diabetes
  • Eczema/acne
  • Food allergies
  • Chronic fatigue
  • Depression

When the solar plexus chakra is overactive you may feel:

  • Overly aggressive
  • Need to be right
  • Bossy
  • Power hungry
  • Competitive
  • Attraction to sedatives
  • Conceited
  • Self-centered

Crystals to use for the solar plexus chakra:

  • Topaz: Excellent aid to the metabolism and digestive process / aids ideas on the mental level
  • Emerald: Calms imbalances of diabetes / use for liver, eyes, and sinuses
  • Sapphire: Opens up your higher spiritual realm by calming  the physical body / regulates endocrine system
  • Yellow Tourmaline: Use this crystal to put out or cut away blockages in the solar plexus

Essential Oils for the solar plexus chakra:

  • Clary Sage: Strongest relaxant and anti-depressant
  • Juniper: Clears blockages and improves digestion
  • Geranium: Regulates hormones / used to detox the lymphatic system

We even learned that the solar plexus chakra is linked to the aura through the  Mental Body. This aura rules the thought and mental processes of the ego. Some of the key issues that can affect this aura are power, fear, anxiety and introvertism. The mental level is power, the emotional level is expansiveness, and the spiritual level of the aura is growth.

Foods for the sacral chakra:

  • Bananas
  • Lentils
  • Brown rice
  • Spices (Tumeric, ginger, etc..)

You can even do the cow face pose, plank pose, and camel yoga poses to help balance the solar plexus chakra.

Affirmations for the solar plexus chakra:

“I am worthy.”

“I am confident.”

“I am free from limitations from others.”

“I manifest with ease and grace.”

“I am deserving.”
