Then “Be Moved”: Women’s Transformative Movement and Dance is for you.
It is called “Be-Moved” because the purpose of the class is for you to “be moved” to dance in your own way through a variety of instruction.
It is called “Transformative”, because you will come in feeling one way, but are sure to come out feeling relaxed, satisfied and really connected to the other women in the class. And you will have the benefit of having exercised, without really knowing it.
(Absolutely no experience in dance is necessary).
In the class, I provide guided instruction through 6 different kinds of rhythms in music that are like the rhythms we experience in life.
The 6 Rhythms go as follows:
The first rhythm in music provides an opportunity for gentle stretching, a chance to breathe and let go of any stress from your day.
The second rhythm may be flowing or have a definite beat. You will be guided to start to either walk the room or move in a relaxed, easy-going way.
The third guided rhythm will help you to have fun and be comfortable with others in the room through partnered movement, set to a very danceable beat.
The forth rhythm will help you feel connected to everyone in the room through instruction that includes the whole group! An opportunity to really groove and shake off any tension that might remain.
The fifth rhythm has you return to a more solitary dance, to quiet down, back to more relaxed movement.
And the sixth rhythm brings you fully into quiet and stillness. Back to your breath, present to your own experience in the moment.
On-going Class starts Thursday, March 23, 6-7:15 pm.
Each class is a Drop-in class. $15. First class is by donation. (You can come as little or as often as you want). If you bring a friend, she comes in free!
Please wear comfortable clothing. No shoes on the floor. Bare feet or socks.
About Kathleen Vought, Instructor and Creator of “Be-Moved”:
My background is in teaching Elementary School, Art and leading “Be-Moved” classes and retreats. I have spent the last 15 years in California being in classes similar to “Be-Moved” and found them not only to be fun, but very important as a form of exercise, well-being and a place to feel close within a community.
It has been a real pleasure to take what I found so valuable and offer this class to many women just like myself; and watch them experience real joy in “Being Moved”, same as it was for me.
